The memorial playground is situated in Kensington Gardens adjacent to Kensington Palace. The playground was opened in June 2000 as place children can come to have fun, let their imaginations run wild and simply enjoy being children, something the late Princess of Wales felt very strongly about.
Based on the story of Peter Pan the playground tries to create a magical environment with much for children to see and do including a sensory trail, beach and even a pirate ship. The design of the playground is such that less able bodied children do not miss out on the fun. Adults are also catered for in the park with plenty of seating and a café serving light snacks and sandwiches.
Children’s safety is paramount and the park staff permanently monitor the park, however parents/carers are requested to supervise children at all times. Trained first aiders are available if required. Adults wishing to visit the park without children must do so between 9.30pm and 10.00pm.
